Want an original Black 1956 Customline tudor? What a friend of mine calls a "moonshiner." Take a look at this like new one, on WWW.StreetsideClassics.com Plug in 1956 Ford. Pricey, but what a nostalgia trip. I wouldn't do anything to it that ruins it's character, but think of it with some hidden subtle "Mummert" style upgrades. A killer!

Thanks for posting that. I have many many hours and lot of miles and good memories behind the wheel of one like that, including a couple high speed coast to coast runs. Mine was a black Y block powered three speed. The interior of the one shown is like the one I owned. I owned mine from 1959 'till 1962, put many trouble free miles on it. I may look for the one picture I have of it.

Ray: Bet you wish you still had it!.. mine was a 55 Club Sedan, 272 - 3 Spd, light green body with a white roof. It had many miles on it, with bad valve seals & or guides & a clutch that chattered badly in reverse, unless you feathered it just right. But I drove it to my first full time job everyday & it was always reliable. Sold it to university student for as I recall, $350. He intended to drive it to school & over 100 miles away to home, every weekend & back. I remember he asked me If I thought it might use "any" oil?. I think I told him that he had better check it regularly driving it like that... never saw the car again.

Close to the one I would like to have today. B serial # is 272 as I recall. C is 292, D is 312 4 barrel, E is 312 dual 4 barrels, F is Supercharger if my memory serves me right. Ad says 292 4 barrel and that could very well be what is in it now. Correction, I was looking at the red and white 57 Custom they had.

I bought the car pictured from a small Ford dealer with very low miles, single digit thousand comes to mind but it was a while ago. Smile It was a one owner trade in and had been on the lot a while. No one wanted a plane jane black car. When I first looked at the car I thought perhaps it had been a police vehicle but soon realized it had not been. I bought the car and the dealer agreed to do a full service that included a valve adjustment and front end alignment. I left two days later on a coast to coast run. Even then, before the interstates, the west had miles of flat straight highway and 70 seem like a crawl. I found the 'sweet spot' and would run there for hours. The only thing I ever wanted on that car was overdrive but never found a set up to install as this was first year for 12 Volts. I kept the car very well serviced, used best oil available

and do not remember ever having any trouble with it. The rockers always lubricate well and valve adjustments never required much. I did install a mechanical oil pressure gauge as I did not trust variations of the electric set up.

Yeah, I would like to have it today but there are some others I wish I had,,,,,,,,,,like the mildly built '52 Merc hardtop stickshift with OD that I traded in on this '56 BigGrin. OH, if we only had known.
