I have a spray can of Plasticote Ford high temp engine Red #206. Is it the correct color? Or is there something better? Thanks..

I have used those "rattle can" high temperature engine enamel paints before and they do work pretty well and are the correct red color. Recently though I found that POR-15 has come out with high temperature engine enamels that you can brush or spray on. I have used alot of the POR-15 products and they perform well so I plan on trying their "Classic Ford Red" on my engine. Here's a link to the product; http://www.por15.com/Engine-Enamel/products/7/

Bill Hirsch in NJ has the correct color red for the early cars 55-?. Spray cans and brush on.

I have used the por15 engine enamel, and it really holds up better than the spray can plasticoat, etc types of paint.

Was kind of glue-ish but leveled out well, and resists gas,etc.

This was the yellow....it needs 2 coats to cover, the red would cover better.

Is a pint enough to do the engine and belhousing?

We use Duplicolor DE1632, Chrysler Industrial Red. Its more orange than the Ford red. You must prime everything red first because it doesn't cover well

I just went through the whole engine color thing. Bought a can of Rustolium Engine paint in the Chrysler Red. Great paint. Sprays out extremely shiney and seems to be tough. Too orange though. The paint I had from Hursh that I used the last time is the right color and held up fair but is falling off after 20 years. Talked to the people from POR and they were nice enough to send me a sample of there Ford red. Looks great but too red and no orange in it. The Rustolium Ford red looked too red but bought a can and sprayed a test part. Matches the Hursh paint and sure sprays well and is extremely high gloss. Will go with the Rustolium Ford Red this time. Tell you how it holds up in 20 years if I am still around then.
