Cool project, but I am not sure what you are asking. There are no secerts on removing components from a yblock. It is the same as with any engine, just take a few pics if you are not familar with the engine and start removing bolts. If you are getting into the engine itself, make sure that rods, main caps, pistons, ect are marked. The heads are right and left and head bolts are different length, Just lay out the parts as you remove them in logical order.

It looks like the olds pictured only has the water pump to drive with a belt. I think that may be what he is asking - how to delete the accessories to run only the water pump.
