Just sold one Borg & Warner T-10 to this guy with '31 Ford. He just got this ex-fire truck with 292 and he will put that engine to his hot rod Ford. He'll put a tri carb set up etc to his engine. The truck itself was a '59 and it has gone no more than 13 000 kilomeres of duty and the engine run like a clock Smile

So, now what he needs, is a bellhousing to fit between Y-block and T-10. What cars and pick ups do have the right part?

Well, I looked under my table and found these w00t.

AJ-6394-C  and

T0AL-7505 B .

I think that, that lower one is the one that fits to T-10. So, me stupid, should have selled that too? Maybe I have to send him an e-mail...

Odd, how you forget things over the years. Don't even remember what you have in your own garage...Smile.

Seppo:

The upper one is passenger car, early T10 would bolt up.  The lower one is truck for the granny low gear 4 speed, the T10 is not a direct bolt up.

Forgot to say that the Ford T10 bolts to the Y bellhousing directly, other manufacturers T10s do not.

Thanks John! I think my tranny was newer one, cause when I took both bellhousings with me to the buyer this afternoon, neither of those were correct fit. T-10 was out of '66 Mustang. But, he bought the upper one and decided to move the holes a bit to make it fit. Man, he had quite a collection of projects there w00t. Freightliner rig, Challenger, Dart, Fury, Model A ford, couple of Harleys etc...  Seems to me, that he is coming out of the closet and getting more Ford-people than Mopar-man BigGrin

If the T-10 has the same size front bearing retainer as the toploader, it must be turned down a little to fit in the Y bellhousing hole.

Most of the toploaders, if not all, had a little bigger front bearing retainer than the Y. I assume the T-10's were the same?

I thought the T-10's were phased out by 1966?

The top picture bell should work but as mentioned, you have to turn the bearing retainer down slightly in a lathe and cut 1/4" to 3/8" off the input shaft of the transmission for the correct length to fit in the pilot bearing. Thats what I had to do to put a T10 in my Vicky along with modify the rear mount. If memory serves me correct I just cut deeper into the ears of the mount and bent the tabs more to move it an inch of so forward in the frame. Drilled new holes, no problems thus far. I also had to pick a correct length drive shaft from a pile.

The lower bell is for T98 truck transmissions, or equivalent, there are some Clark trannys that fit along with some other truck trannys. The clarks are nice (6 speed) but nothing you want for street driving, a work truck Yes.

Seppo, that lower bell belongs to 5-speed (T-98) truck transmission which I got from Pete. It's still around so if you are going to sell it then that trans will go with it... Tongue
