Within the last 1-2 weeks Ted and someone mentioned the Holley line of carbs which were similar to 4100s. It was news to me. Today this showed up in my mailbox. Holley model 4010, list 84012, 600 cfm, mech. secondaries, annular discharge, manual choke. Apparently it has the same throttle plates as a 750 cfm (4010?). The top cover is one piece split horizontally from the body like the 4100s. It looks rugged, and an obvious take-off from the Autolites. The ebay picture and description were both poor, so it was a surprise package.

This model of carb is a favorite of my Brother and I, as we used it for its performance, and that it confused scrub drivers and tech, as they thought that they were/are Autolites/FOMOCO carbs... These carbs come in two styles, standard and spread bore...
Brother and I own/operate 1957 Ford Fairlane 312/4x2 and two 1963 Falcons 302 rollers carburated 600cfm, FE427 sitting in shed..

This model of carb is a favorite of my Brother and I, as we used it for its performance, and that it confused scrub drivers and tech, as they thought that they were/are Autolites/FOMOCO carbs... These carbs come in two styles, standard and spread bore... Ketterbros, what engine(s) did you use it in? Do I assume correctly that this model is aftermarket, not showing up on production cars?

The 4010 base is prone to warp and leak vacuum. Check that the base is glass flat. Use a genuine Holley base gasket p/n 108-18. Thinly grease coat the base gasket for future easy carb removal and do not over tighten the carb base studs or it will warp. Holley 4010 and 4011's have the better signal annular venturi's. I have a 650 cfm 4011 on my 312 and it is as stall proof as it gets. Will start in 1st on a soft lawn with no clutch or gas and take off. Don't ask how I know. Jerome

I had one on a modified Jeep J10 pickup (454 stock trailer puller) - and I learned that the top plate gasket doesn't grow on trees. If you feel like getting down inside the bowls - find the gasket source first.

I have a source on rebuild kit, $47 shipped. Will check the base, and if needed can mill it on a vertical wheel. Jerome, what jets sizes are you using, and does yours have vacuum secondary...and, what is the basic diff between 4010 and 4011?

The model 4010 has the standard 4150/4160 carb flange while the model 4011 has the spread bore carb flange. The 4010/4011 models were only offered as an aftermarket piece and were not original or factory equipment on any cars or trucks. That line of carbs is now sold with the Summit badging on them. Summit has had Holley do some additional modifications which has improved these carbs over what was available when Holley sold them outright. The original design had some issues with the routing of the fuel line and that’s one of the items fixed on the Summit redo.

One of the kits I was looking at for the 4010 said it had all the parts needed for 4010, 4011, and 2010. Showed some simple line drawings of the three carbs, and it looks like the 2010 is a copy of the 2100. Another thing not previously known or seen .

My 4011 is vac secondary. 4011's have smaller primary but larger secondary bores than your 4010 so jetting is different. My jetting is per specs. Here is how to get to the Holley's carb specs and settings on Holley carbs. Go to Holley.com, click on "Technical" in the upper tool bar, next drop down click on "Resource Documents & Library", next drop down list click on "Carb Numerical Listing". This will bring up a large pdf file with all Holley carb list numbers and specs. You will find your 4010 data near the very bottom. Enjoy. Jerome

Thanks Ted, thought I might have to confess my brother and I's transgressions at the tracks.. I do have the holley book with pic's and parts list.. was hard to find.. But is and was fun confusing the scrub drivers/tech's..not a very educated bunch, most info from HRM, not from experience
