Hey everyone, I have a 62 F100 with a 292 we recently overhauled. We went fairly extreme with it. Stoker kit with pretty high compression. I have been having trouble with keeping one of my head gaskets sealed. I finaly figured out whats going on. Both heads are form a 57 312 y-block. One is an early production and one is a late production. So one has the extra bracing inside and the other doesn't. What I am planning on doing is drilling thought the head and threading a bolt flush with head till it touches the other side acting like a pillar for support. Has anyone ever done this and what are your opinions.

Just do a search under the Tech section on Posting Heads. You will find all the info you need.

Does this have to be done at each combustion chamber, or is it certain ones.

paul2748 (3/26/2011) Does this have to be done at each combustion chamber, or is it certain ones.Just add posts or braces for cylinders 1, 3, 6, & 8. This amounts to two combustion chambers in each head and these are the chambers that are on each side of the chamber that has the rocker arm oil passage going through it.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I posted the head that was giving me trouble. I used that procedure from the link you sent me. It worked very well. I used the old ARP head bolts to post them and installed ARP studs. We have been running the engine very hard and have not had any problems since. Thanks for all the help. Robi
