C1TE steel crank (10/10) should polish with out turning again. C2AE-A rods, ARP bolts, new Sealed Power bushings. $400.00 plus shipping. The rods have not been rebuilt, just includes new bolts and bushings. I am selling off some stuff that I know I will never get around to using. I will be putting up more stuff as I dig it out, but the prices are for everything, if you want to split it up, we'll have to talk about it.

O.k., I'll bite... what is the advantage of a steel crank... better dynamic balance with the center weights, strenght at high revs, dimension/stroke, what?

Perhaps I should have posted this in the other previous post on steel crank surprise, but... I'm just asking.

Brian: generally.. they were part of the heavy duty truck engines starting in 1961 including the Rods that Glen listed. That crank is heavy & isn't necessary for any reasonable street use, but if you were using nitrous or supercharging you might want one. Also can be used for certain stroker kit setups or could welded in some cases. I'm not up on the tech details involved.

As Paul stated, no advantage for street use unless you are running alot of boost. Mummert uses them in some off his stroker kits. I don't know who he uses now, but he used to use Crankshaft Specalist in Memphis to weld them up and off set grind. He used to have a $400 dollar core charge or you furnish the crank. Ted is not fond of the steel cranks and perfers to offset grind cast cranks either 292 or 312. I do know that they are hard to find in this condition and I would not hesitate to run this one just as it is. Tim (Yblock guy) can make a beautiful set of rods using the parts supplied (rebuilt, balanced, polished beam) for a very reasonable price and Mummert has the stock stroke forged pistons that would make this a bullet proof street/strip engine.
