I know people are afraid of rust, but they said my black truck (1971 S-10) was too rusted to run, but that old american thunder V8 fired right up and we drove it away--free. I know some of it is truly beyond repair, but there is a difference from unrepairable and unusable. My uncle got a 1963 thunderbird, totally rusted out, and it still ran. He drove it till fell apart (it was kind of funny when pieces would fall off in traffic, no joke, cops didn;t think it was funny, though). Total rusties can be fun, too.

Speaking of stainless trim,I see a 56 4 door there that still has it's side trim.In the last year I've sold 2 sets of 56 4 door side trim on Ebay. One set was complete and in good shape. It sold for $480.The other set had one fender spear damaged and was missing the little pieces that go on the headlight doors. It sold for only $240.Judging by these sales,I see a lot of dollars sitting in that junk yard.

Paul.  That ’56 four door is a hardtop of which there were only ~32,111 made which makes it a relatively rare vehicle as compared to the numbers of the other models which were produced.  Being a four door, the survival rate automatically goes down versus any of the two door models.

Ted,you're right about the rarity of the Town Victorias.I built a stock car out of one of them in1959.In hindsight pretty foolish, huh. If that side trim is unique to the Vic,it is worth gold, although I think it's the same as any of the 4 door Fairlanes.

That stock car was a 312 three speed and with only a few engine mods,it won a bunch of races.

Happy Turkey Day Everyone!!!

Boneyards are gitting bad all over I was in a yeard here in S Jersey the other day gitting parts for my Falcon ,they have lots of 50"-60" and newer cars all makes, and it looked to me each time I go in there that more damage is being done to the cars by the people working in the yard. I saw to many cars that people removed carbs, valve covers and left engines to the weather.Saw the generater removed and tosed into the windshield, and a 58-60 squarebird that they dropped another car across the front clip, crushing it!!!

I sent an email to comrade-paul a few days ago to see if he posted the correct telephone number for Dan Snyder, I haven't heard back from him.

A few years back, I discovered a remote/rural private junkyard with about a dozen similar examples (I was especially thrilled to see another Merc. Meteor just like the one I owned back in the 60s). I thought my old local mechanic might salvage some of the Y-block engine components, but he was not interested since they had been exposed to the elements too long (most of the hoods were up, and I guess he had been down that road before).

As a side note, after I spread the word and someone went to make an offer to the old lady who had inherited the property, her retarded son fired several handgun pot shots at them. I think he had an inflated concept of what the cars were worth, and was afraid his mother would squander his "fortune".

Hi guys. Sorry for late reply.

That number for Dan Snyder was the one he gave me.

Sadly I am back in England now and have no way of contacting the yard. I can't even remember where it was.

Picture taken in 1960. Funnily enough it still looks like this! BigGrin

I did a search in the white pages on MSN. They show a bunch of Dan Snyders in Harrisburg, PA. One number to try is 717-566-7541. There is another at 2619 Derry St. with unlisted number.

They "HAVE" to all be related. Call one and ask. How many can have yard full of old Fords? Don't answer that question!
