Like John, I also have some snail mail contact with him and as such, just didn’t feel the need to respond to the post.  Even before knowing him personally, I knew of him from the accounts written in the early Sixties.  He definitely set the bar back then and from the sounds of what he does now, is still continuing to reset the bar.  Excellent write up on the HAMB site though.

I've been a Ford man all my life and Karol Miller has been my hero for most of it.  I have read his story many times in the past and lost any link to it so thanks for posting it.

I like this site just the way it is also.  It takes up way too much of my time, but I'm addicted.  While a little chat is OK, if I had to wade through a lot of BS, I probably wouldn't visit here as much.  All that from a guy who doesn't know when to stop writing.........

This forum just amazes me. This is a great story, both of them, involving icon's in the Ford world. There have been 116 views (at this time) and not one comment. I can't believe it. That first story was on the HAMB and there were 14 posts on it in one day. But I think that's the difference in the HAMB and any other board. It's like a bunch of guys sittin' around a garage, hovered around some hot rod, drinkin' beer and talkin' cars. I would love to see this board become a place like that. We can talk Fords and we can damn sure talk Y-blocks and it doesn't always have to be "how do you do this or that" it can just be BS'n.

I read the first Karol Miller piece again but couldnt get the second one large enough to see.  It is a great story, but...10 years before my time.  I wasnt there, and have to admit a little difficulty in relating.  The story would make a fantastic screen play for movie, remindful of the Worlds Fastest Indian.  Maybe then it would sink in.

How about this theory? A majority of the people on the HAMB are likely Chebie/sbc types, and they don't want to acknowledge the existence of people like Karol Miller or the performance of Ford Y-Blocks. It hurts their egos & cuts apart their never ending B.S....

All this talk about Karol reminds me that I need to write him.  We correspond occasionally, it's been too long.  I'll get right on it.

Tim, i agree about the difference with this forum of dedicated y blockers, and the others that generally have too many guys wanting to benchrace, B/S and use silly abbreviations in every sentence, keep this site focused on what it is and we then can go to other sites for quick peek. P.S Ted and the administrators keep a pretty good control of the guidelines on our forum to limit unnecessary B/S etc. Regards aussiebill.

Well Tim, yeah I guess there's more meat here. I mean the information here on Y-blocks is invaluable and there's nothing, and I mean nothing about a Y-block that doesn't get answered here. That is good, real good. And I suppose the HAMB is bs'n, but I sorta like bs'n. I also like the pictures on there and they are so easy to get on there. I guess I'm in the dark ages because I've never seen that story on karol Miller before and I was just blown away by it. If there ever was a situation where a guy took nothing and made something from it that was it. In fact, I'm not even sure I had ever heard of Karol Miller before. I've heard of AK Miller. The story about Bill Stroop prepared Mercury was a good story but, damn, they had everything in that Lincoln motor one could pack into it and just went a tad faster than Karol did with that little Ford motor. Anyway, thanks for the response. It sort of makes one feel like they've wasted their time if they post and nobody replies and lots of people read it, they just didn't say anything. Thanks to both of you..

I love the Karol Miller story I've read it over and over and it never gets old.  Maybe there are no comments because the guys who have read it know it and there is just nothing more to say, and the guys who don't know the story need a little more in the title than "Carol Miller" to prompt them to open it.

I like this forum the way it is, the H.A.M.B. is fun but it is mostly guys just BSn'. I think you get a little more Meat here and being a smaller group it's more of a community.
