Caught his tv interview at the Indy meet last month (he looks pretty damn good for 94 yrs. old!), and decided to email him about how I ran away from home in mid-winter 1960 and traveled to his speed shop in Fla. to meet my ‘drag racing hero’, Didn’t realize he would be gone on the road then 🥵 (I guess the southern tracks ran a winter racing schedule). He was nice enough to respond with a (much delayed) friendly greeting 😁.
