Iv'e got a massive oil leak at the oil filter adapter plate. The leak is so bad that not only does it mark its territory it marks the line moving from one territory to the next. The leak only occurs when the engine is running so it was hard to trace until I got the car on a lift and left it running; then it was easy to see. Leaking out the bottom of the adapter plate.

I have seen Ted's fix for the adapter plate and will try that when I get the steel one off. I have ordered the aluminum type with an o-ring seal shown below.


Obviously a China product so don't know if it will work; anybody else use these with success?

The ones which that one copied, was made in the USA and work.  If they copied it exactly, then it will work.

Is the leakage between the plate and block boss or filter and plate?

Just say no to CHI-CON OFF-SHORE SLOPPY COPY PARTS.

What gasket did you use under the plate.  The rubber ones are problematic and usually leak.  The best is the kind Ford used, it is a composite type that usually works.  Hard to get individually, but they usually come with the cannister type filters.

Hello Members  Composite  gasket is easy to make. Buy a sheet of  heavy gasket material, use adaptor for OD and find something round about 3/4"  smaller for ID and cut away. Think Ted mentioned before about truing adaptor plate.

I looked for the other version (which I hope is USA made) but didn't find it. That one as I remember looked to be thicker material (~1/8"), had some stamping on top and looked good. Would have bought it if I could've found. You have a source?

Between the block and adapter at the bottom, filter to plate dry.

Used the supplied rubber gasket, no sealer. Really don't want to go the canister route but will if that's the only way to dry it up I will.

The gasket itself is FORD PN - EAA 6838-A and is easily found NOS, jobber or tractor shops.

FORD PN - B7A 6882-A is the GENUINE ADAPTER KIT and can be found NOS.

I don't have any current source.  I got a couple on ebay several years ago and not long after, the Chinese ones came around at almost 1/4 the price and reality is that people just won't pay for American made if it is that much more, particularly without any clear benefit.  I wouldn't expect to find them again.

I have used the aluminum billet oil filter adapters but all the ones I have experience with were the ones manufactured in the U.S.A.  They all worked as intended with no oil leaks.  But the factory stamped steel oil filter adapters also work well assuming they have not been deformed and the correct gasket is being used.  I have no experience with the offshore billet pieces.

What I meant was get the composition gasket from a canister type filter if you cannot find it anywhere else.  Check the box to make sure it is not a rubber gasket.  But to be honest, I had the same problem with an adapter (at that time I didn't realize the  gasket problem) and went back to the canister.  To me, the canister was no more of a problem changing than the spin on.
