I pay with Amex whenever possible. If the seller is uncooperative, Amex will take care of it. Fortunately, it rarely happens.

New repos are $150 from Larry’s Thunderbird. Re-plating is a lot more and the plater I use said to buy repo parts and save the originals in a box for the next owner.

Some time ago, I purchased a pair of Thunderbird FE steel valve covers on EBay.  The ad said they were in "like new condition". When I received them, they were severely pitted.  I filed a complaint with EBay against the seller and after some back and forth discussion, the seller refunded my payment. I learned to read through those ads completely before buying anything.  If you don't know who you are buying from, you may have no recourse but accept the loss. I never buy any used car parts on EBay unless the seller has 100% positive feedback.

Years ago, I bought the interior quarter trim pieces for my 66 Mustang Fastback; the previous owner had cut speaker holes in mine. While negotiating the replacements, the seller said that a previous buyer had refused to accept them COD, but he assured me that they were in excellent condition. I went ahead and arranged to have them delivered COD as well. When they arrived, the corner of one panel was sticking out of the box and was damaged. The seller had done a poor job of boxing them up. Guess what? I refused them, too! Some people never learn. Unfortunately, the panels were not being reproduced (maybe they are, now).
