Beneath FEJ-12127-A2 is H 721. Is H 721 a date code? If so, does that translate to Month, Year, and Day (August, 57, 21)?  The date is not particularly important to me, but it might be to others. I do know it is a tach-drive distributor/w both vacuum and centrifugal advance and is correct for 1957 Tbird.

Jeff. That does sounds like a date. Confirmation of that could come from the build date for the car from which that distributor came if the car it came from is known.

Unfortunately, Ted, the distributor came out of my 55 Tbird. Although the car has been in the family for 50 years, I doubt that my dad, from whom I inherited the car, knew that the distributor was not correct for 55, because the original Teapot carb had not been modified for compatibility with the 57 distributor.

I've posted the same question on three other forums, but no one seems to know. It's only important to me because I don't want to misrepresent it, if I decide to sell it. In the meantime, keep those HS rockers on the back burner.

Thanks

Blacktie - the FEJ-12127-A2 is a 57 distributor.  C and D birds only.  Confirmed it with a note that I have from Gil Baumgartner on 57 distributors.  Also  with a page out of the Ford Car Parts book.

My question is regarding H 721. Nevertheless, Gil Baumgartner (CTCI) confirmed that it's not an issue during judging (for anyone who cares).

I think we can put it to rest.
