Have you considered just hooking the carburetor up directly to the firewall bell crank and doing away with that factory pivot assembly?  Here’s a picture of a ’56 Ford with the simplified carb linkage setup.

Ted, I know this thread is pretty old but I'm having the same problem. Do you recall how much you had to extend the accelerator linkage to get full throttle?

The bell crank linkage was extended 2 1/2" - 3" but this was done to get the linkage more level with the carburetor. This did increase the travel of the linkage going from the firewall to the carb in relation to what was taking place with the foot feed. Length of the throttle linkage is the key player here.

Cool beans, thanks Ted. Now all I gotta do is remove the original swivel from the bell crank linkage (it's swaged on), bolt an extension to it and fab up a link from there to the carb with all thread. Good weekend project.
