On a 292 Truck crank turned 0.30 x 0.30, what would be about the practicle max offset stroke available, with a 2 " Rod journal?

Assuming the crankshaft is indeed a 3.300” stroke, then the maximum amount of available offset stroke with a 2.000” journal is 3.458”. When grinding the crankshaft, target for a 3.450” stroke as this will give 0.004” of clean up on the topsides of the journals. With all that being said, always check the stroke at each throw before doing any offset grinding as there’s always a strong possibility that each throw is not at 3.300” stroke and can be more or less than this and especially with crankshafts that have had the journals previously ground undersize.

Ted: Thanks. I was just trying to get a feel for what displacement could be made with that offset ground truck crank, based on 2" Rod journals & a 292" block, bored to 3.840" (or 312- 40 over) x that 3.450" stroke?. If I did it right (?) displacement would be just slightly under 320" ..

PF Arcand (12/19/2020) .....If I did it right (?) displacement would be just slightly under 320" .. That’s right. 319.64 would be the exact number. Using the Queen's round up rules, 320 CID. For those trying to calculate cubic inches, here’s the formula. Bore X bore X stroke X 0.7854 X number of cylinders
