Has anyone used "Made in Taiwan" lifters. I recently bought what were supposed to be American-made lifters. They showed up in a plain, brown box, with a "Made in Taiwan" label on the front. The advertised lifters were out of stock, so the seller substituted the Taiwan lifters. I could see nothing wrong with the quality, but I returned them, at seller's expense, and will receive a full refund. The seller has removed the ad. 

I have a line on NOS American-made lifters. Are there any American-made lifters that should be avoided? 

I don't necessarily believe that all off-shore products are bad, nor do I believe that all American-made products are good. I would, however, like to see more products made at home.

Here's a link to an old thread on the Ford Barn forum regarding lifters. John Mummert and Verne Schumann both have USA made lifters. I think Mummert gets his from Schumann. Schumann's phone number is in the thread.

You might want to call Mummert and see what he has (unless the Taiwan ones came from him)

are people regrinding steel or cast lifters.i have a set of reground steel ones.

Unless John moved to Iowa, they didn't come from him.

In a not too recent blurb by John Mummert, he indicated that some Y-Block parts are just not available any longer made in the USA... However, not all are coming from Asia. For instance, the roller timing sets are out of Australia & another item that escapes me at the moment, is made somewhere in S.America..

I used Com Cams lifters in my current motor.  I have no idea where they were made. No problems so far.
