Hello I currently have two starters in pieces on my bench one is 12 volt and one is 6 volt to the eye they seem to be the same .does anyone know what is changed to make a 6 volt become a 12 volt fields look the same as well as the armature. Thanks

THE FIELD COILS ARE LIGHTER, BY USEING A RESISTER FROME A 57FORD DASH I USE A 6VOLT FUEL GAUGE, AND TEMP GAUGE WORKS IF YOU FIND A 6VOLT TEMP SENDER THAT WORKS(MOST DID NOT LAST WITH 6 VOLT
