what do you guys think of the spectra premium brand of fuel tank that rock auto sells for 57 birds? a friend is putting a 57 back on the road after it sat for 45 years.

i helped him drop the old one last night, still can't get that stale gas smell out of my skin.

I bought One for my 56 Fairlane. Excellent. Came with New Gasket and Screws for the Sending Unit.

Spectra is the Tank that most Aftermarket Sellers sell. I think Rock Auto has the best Price of any of them. They are made in Canada which is where I am. It was cheaper for Me to buy from Rock Auto and pay Shipping than to buy it locally..Don't buy the Sending Unit made by Spectra. Completely inaccurate. There is a Company in the States that repairs OEM Senders if the Original doesn't work. Far better to spend the Money to have the Original repaired if required.

I purchased one for my 55 TBird and it fit perfectly.   My 55 TBird was converted to 12 volts before I purchased it.  The only problem I had was with the old sending unit.  The 55 gas gauge will not work with the new resistance style sending units.  I went to Casco and purchased a new gauge and sender to match and it works fine now.
