Since there recently has been a discussion on Mallory distributors,  I thought this link may be useful to someone. I know nothing about this product or the seller. Hope this helps, JEFF...  https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Mallory-dual-point-distributor-zc343d-ford-y-block-mercury-rare-v8/163966885841?epid=20028494400&hash=item262d301fd1:g:AQYAAOSwLy1d4Wy5

Thanks for the clarification Cliff. I thought the shaft looked a little short. Next time I'll do a little research before posting.

SHORT STORY ABOUT MALLORY
My first '56 Ford was a white  Fairlane two door with three on the tree. Had the engine rebuilt on Cass Ave in Detroit back in 196?.
Came by a Mallory dual point distributor but couldn't get it to work in the manner it was built to function.
SOLUTION: Go to Mallory's corporate headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan and ask for help.
The headquarters was also the factory where their products were manufactured. In the rear of this building were three bays to work on cars with problems.
After parking the '56 in one of those bays, the hood was popped and out came the distributor.
It went to a work bench where the old dual points were replaced with brand new points.
The ratty old spark plug wires were replaced with Packard 440 wires ! (in those days, Packard 440's were top drawer highest quality wires one could buy)
After everything was put back together, I was told" to hit the key" and VAROOM  the engine fired-up and purred like a kitten.
How much I asked ? Nothing, Free, No Charge !
On top of that we got a tour of the Mallory factory and even went to the president's office.
WHY I LOVE MALLORY AND BUY MALLORY TODAY!!!!!!!!

Good story from the day when most corporations practiced good will.   Unfortunately, if I had studied the picture tied to the link I posted, I would have realized the shaft was too short for a Y-block.  Thankfully, Cliff noticed this and set everything straight.

Those and Raja clips. Adj the choke wide open and wire the heat riser open and you had a bonafide street racer.

And don't forget to put a sheet metal screw in the slot of the Holley's secondary linkage and remove the air cleaner! Ha-Ha

http://forums.y-blocksforever.com/uploads/images/4e97ffbe-53a5-4259-b44f-7e10.jpgSeeing how you all seem to like SHORT FORD STORIES..........
So I sold my first '56 Ford before I got drafted in '62.  The guy who had it, smashed it up, destroyed it.
Years go by and I run into this guy who tells me that he pulled the dash out of the car after
he wrecked it and put the dash in his barn.
Last summer I drove my present '56 Crown to the Detroit area for fun and car shows.
I ran into the son of the guy who put the dash in his barn and was told the DASH was
still in the barn !
Sure enough, it was there and now it is in my garage here in Florida.
Had the temperature gauge repaired and it is now in the Crown Vic that is also in my garage.
Lot of good memories are in that temperature gauge......if only  Temperature Gauges could talk!!
Thanks for letting me share this short story
