I'm trying to ID this tranny.   The guy I got it from thought it was a C4.   I knew it wasn't one of those.   Just not sure what it is though.   Any help appreciated

My 1963 aftermarket automatic trans parts catalog indicates:  PCC-A  as 1961 292 2-V, DR ,(Dual Range, so would be a cruise-o-matic and that would make it rather desirable), small case. This info is listed under the heading of Ford.  Not Mercury, Lincoln, Edsel, etc.. As stated above, if you could supply a pic of the whole thing, may tell us if it's truck or passenger car.  Hope this helps, JEFF.....................

I'll try to get some pics tomorrow.   It's got a square pan,  fill tube goes directly in it.   It has a vacuum modulator on the left rear corner of the case.   The front of the case from where the bellhousing  meets to the tailshaft is 27inches.

Thanks for that link.   From the ID tag and that website I found out this tranny is a FX 3 speed, 1961 for Ford or Merc applications.  9 7/8 small case.   Doesn't state dual range on any of the charts.   You were right on it Jeff.   I will post pics of the whole thing when I get it unwrapped from it's cover

I have a 1962 medium Cruiso in my 56 from a 62 Thunderbird. At the trans shop putting it in they asked if I wand the set a 1-2-3 or "Dual Range" and some call the "green" dot which is the way I went. Don't know about the small case
