Trying to get the Spin on Oil Filter Adapter Plate off the Block. The Center Bolt is out. Looks like Someone really glued the Plate and Seal to the Block. Suggestions without destroying it?

If they used some kind of sealant or silicone, maybe you can use a heat gun to soften whatever they used and then pry the plate off.

use a small pry bar or large screwdriver and put it into the slot then use a hammer handle or anything under it so you can pry it and it pops right of.

An old fashioned seal remover tool works. It's about a foot long tapered piece with a claw hook at the business end. The heat gun sounds like a great idea too.

use a small propane torch, heat along the outer edge of the plate.nothing to hurt with heating the plate.it will smoke a bit as the gasket burns. have a hose handy if oil starts to burn. prying will ruin the plate

http://forums.y-blocksforever.com/Topic139725.aspxSmall cat's paw fits perfectly. Don't think you'll reuse as they are sold new.

You can reshape them inverted in the filter can with a little hammer to make sure the outer edges are flat but they are available new.

I was actually hoping to replace it with One of those Aftermarket Ones that were being made out of Aluminum. I bought One Years ago but they seem to have disappeared. Anyone know who sells them?

They are usually on ebay. I don't think it is the same person who originally sold them.
