I've had my 56 Ford for 30 years...has a 292, unrebuilt at 43K miles. The spark plug choices today are confusing; equivalent current Champs don't seem to get good reviews, so I'm going with Motorcraft. So many numbers: BSF82C / SP431 / BSF6 / SP430. Can anyone sort this out for me? Thanks very much.

You can use Autolite #46, Motorcraft (Ford) either BSF-82C (old #) or replacement # SP431. These 3 are interchangeable. Gap is .035. Sounds like a great Car.

That's a Fiesta Red beauty, really like that it's a single-tone--and I think you like red. My car was repainted and "regrained" (new Di-Noc panels, fiberglass framing restored, and window framing redone) before I got it 28+ years ago. It had 25K miles then--the mechanics are original as is the "Western" interior (brown vinyl with branding irons imprinted). It has Fordomatic...which brings me to another question I may put on the Y Block forum: It needs to be gone through--leaks quite a bit, though still shifts beautifully and I rarely have to top it off--it was last serviced, well, years and years ago. I've been putting it off becasue it seems that no two sources agree on what fluid should be used these days. What do you use (if your cars had FOM?) Thanks

Actually its a Canadian built Car and unique Canadian Paint Color. Carousel Red. Original color with Black Vinyl Interior with White Inserts. Fiesta Red was never used on the Canadian Models. Power Windows, Seat, Top, Steering, Tinted Windows and T&C Radio. The replacement for "A' Type is supposed to be Dexron III. "F" is not the suggested replacement but if it was rebuilt it would be up to the Transmission Shop to decide. Probably a good idea to drain it including the Convertor,,clean the Filter, and refill with Dexron III. Won't fix your leak but at least the Fluid will be clean when it drips.

Thanks for the FOM advice--and now that I look at your Sunliner, it does seem to be a slightly pinker red than Fiesta Red. I think I have an owner's manual for the Canadian 56s somewhere in my lit collection.
