I have this electric wiper motor from Newport engineering, I always have trouble with this pos, It would overheat and stop working after about 15minutes, brand new , so I sent it back to them and wasted shipping, and they sent it back saying they cant find anything wrong with it. now 2 years later, it finally shorted out completely, I don't want to wast another 200 dollars on newport junk. does anyone know a good source for electric wiper motors for 60-64 full size cars?

Holun, Check with a local auto electric shop and see if they can repair the motor. Could be a simple problem that they can fix or perhaps they have a replacement for the motor. I have one of their motors in my 56. Works ok but dosn't park! Chuck in NH

HoLun: I believe '62 and later Fords had electric wipers, so your answer may be as near as your local wrecking yard. My '63 Galaxie has 2 speed electric wipers. I have a feeling that the Newport kits use marine motors, which are designed to run a single wiper blade. Two long blades like your '60 has takes a lot of power, maybe more than the Newport can handle. Chuck's car would only have 12 or 13 inch blades. John

Another reason to try a local auto electric shop. They may be able to ID the motor used and find a cheaper replacement. These guys don't make the motors they just make them fit our cars. They have to get them someplace! Chuck in NH

Tom: I had virtually the identical problem with my after market electrics. They stalled & then fried because the switch wasn't turned off. Installed by a previous owner, I assume they weren't fused properly. Mine were from Vintique, if I recall correctly. It was the 2nd time I had a problem with them. I still had the original vacuum unit & sent it to a rebuilder that advertised in Hemming's Motor News. Had it back in 10 days for quite a reasonable price, including shipping.

Tom: I'm sure I have a vacuum motor core, but I doubt I have the cable control. Maybe someone else has a cable? John

I cant use vacuum motors anymore, unless i shell out for a electric vacuum pump, I ditched the mech fuel pump (didnt even have vacuum pump on it), and recently went to fuel injection on the 292, I will make a post on that ones I get it run the way i wanted. it sucks when the wiper stops on acceleration
