There is a beautiful picture of a y-block on your forum that I found when looking for spark plug wire routing. It is a picture of the rear of the engine with the plug wires in two separate holders on each side bolted to the engine in two places. It looks like the perfect way to rout wires to keep them out of sight and away from the headers. Someone please tell me where I can find these wire holder/separators.

Those are the factory wire separators and they are an absolute must. Any of the usual suspects have 'em; Mac's, Concours,C&G to name a few.

A few different vendors sell them, probably sourced from the same manufacturer. Sold in kits, either just the rubber innards or as a complete assembly as I recall. Dennis Carpenter and Mac's for example.

I seem to remember seeing some hand fabricated wire supports. Seems to me Charlie McCraney made them. How about it Charlie, was that you?

I did make some which mount in the stock location but allow the use of wire holders for larger diameter aftermarket wires.

I have fond memories of those separators from back in the day. All stock Y Blocks had them and they were a real PIA. Routing the wires through them looked like a big deal to a teenager, so we threw them away. Also, they were always covered with grease and oil. I guess we never thought about doing things the right way? Like other posters said, you can buy them from NPD or any vintage parts vendor.

I love that they hold the wires separately and only have to remove a few bolts to take them off as a complete assembly cap and all.
Y's guys rule! Looking for McCullouch VS57 brackets and parts. Also looking for 28 Chrysler series 72 parts. And early Hemi parts.

I find threading the wires through the wire separators to be a huge pain. CASCO, the Thunderbird parts store in Coshocton, Ohio sells a wire set with all the wire separators assembled with the distributor cap ready to just bold on. It is worth the few extra dollars for them to do it rather than try and thread the wires in the right length through the rubber blocks. A big time saver for me.

I would remove the complete old set and change them on the bench. Easy that way and low chance of messing up the firing order or wire length.
