Does anyone know what the three holes in a line just above the bell housing are for? I have seen them in pictures of other peoples projects.
They appear to be punched into the sheet metal and tapped maybe 3/8.
Thanks in advance.

I am not sure what was originally bolted to them.  They have captive nuts welded to the backside.  They may have something to do with the installation of the inline six cylinder engine.  My '56 was born with a 6 and has those three nuts and I'm just going to stuff in some button head screws to fill them up.

Thanks Bob

Yours was one of the projects I was referring to when I said I had seen them. These vehicles are getting on in years and who knows what mods previous owners have carried out.

I was contemplating welding them up but as they may be factory I will follow your lead and button them up
Thanks
