Hey,

Just wanted to see if anyone out there has had a problem mounting T bird valve covers with the blue thunder intake installed? I tried to set some on, and i'm not being able to get these things to mount. ?? Anyone else?

Hi Greg,

I have a BT intake on my 312, and even though I'm not going to use them, I did mount a set of T-Bird covers on it, and there was no problems.  The external dimensions of the BT are the same as the stock '57 Y-Block 4 barrel intake.

I'm using aftermarket finned valve covers.  I had to do a little grinding on the driver side cover, toward the rear, below the bellcrank mounting boss.  It's nothing major.  The passenger side was fine.

Hey Greg;  Yes I have the Blue Thunder manifold and had to whittle a little on the drivers side cover (Alun. T-Bird covers)  anyway take a little off the edge at the runner by the throttle bell crank. Doesn't take much!!  Hope this helps!!  God Bless

Aluminum or Thunderbird valve cover fit with the Blue Thunder intake seems to get more critical as the heads are milled.  If dry fitting everything, it’s easier for myself to mill or grind on the intake where the interference occurs.  Now knowing that an interference problem can arise, I simply check the fit before bolting down the intake and modify the manifold as deemed necessary rather than modifying the valve covers.
