I need to replace the muffler (one side only) of my dual exhaust on my '55 Fairlane.

Wondering if anyone can help me find a place to purchase one.

I checked my catalogs and Concours shows it.  I ordered it from them about 3 weeks ago, but Friday they called to tell me their supplier will no longer sell individual exhaust parts, only complete exhaust systems.  According to their parts catalog it appears to be identical for 55 and 56 and also the same unit for the single exhaust on the 223 6 cylinder cars for those years.

I'm looking for a stock muffler or something the same dimensions for a one-to-one replacement.  Sound absorption characteristics are not a big concern.

I spent about 45 minutes scouring the internet, finding nothing.

I ran International Truck mufflers on my 55 Crown.That was years ago so I don't have the part number. look on line for a muffler manufacturer list by dimension.

I have a original muffler for 55,56 Ford,i think it is in good shape but will check it out tomorrow  Carl

Neither one has mufflers - at least for that year.

Try Tee-Bird.com. The online Catalog shows Mufflers individually. They are very helpful if You call them for additional information.

  

I checked the used muffler I have today.It is 29" long not including the in and out pipes,8" wide,3 1/2 thick, oval in shape.The inlet pipe is 2" and outlet pipe is 1 7/8".It has been marked 54 Ford by someone(not a Ford mark).Overall looks to be in great shape,no rust other than surface rust on the pipes.I believe it will fit a 55 but not sure.  Carl
