I don't have a definitive answer for your question. Click the link below for a N.O.S. piece that was offered on eBay not too long ago. According to the listing it was not sold although there were 10 bids. Ebay listing states that the seller wanted more money than was offered. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1955-1956-FORD-NOS-OEM-Front-Frame-Crossmember-Only-Full-Size-Passenger-/301957043243?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMESINDXX%3AIT&nma=true&si=vRf6FiqyG14Gw8Cxx7aprpxYeH0%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=ncThere are aftermarket replacement units available I recall. I bought a nice, clean one cut out of a salvaged car for $200 three years ago. I found it on eBay - one comes up every once in a while.

Goodell Fabrications makes the replacement crossmembers. Never bought one, but guys say they are very good. I don't have contact info.

The guy on ebay should of took the $311. The Goodell units are just as good and sell for around $300.

With the Goodell Fabrications front crossmember mounts going for ~$300, then a NOS FoMoCo unit should definitely not be worth anymore than that. The Goodell units look very substantial and I’d be very comfortable with using them over an original NOS Ford unit. I’d hate to think I was putting another unit (ie. NOS Ford) back into the vehicle that has the exact same problems at the original.
