Does any one know of a source for that hunk of garden hose masquerading as a seal for the pickup tube where it goes into the oil pump body?

I hate to buy a $100 gasket set or new oil pump to get one

The seals for the oil tube and be found from the T-Bird suppliers.  The seal you are looking for (#6698) from Concours Parts sells for $8.00.

I had leaks around the oil pump. I got a Sealed Power oil pump with that rubber seal from Rockauto for about $40 on some kind of close out. Came with the gasket as well.

I believe that some of the seals had a metal piece as part of the seal (& gasket) kit..unfortunately I don't know who manufactured that type. Maybe someone else  knows?

The flange nut for the tube to oil pump connection torques to 10-12 lbs/ft.  The oil pump seal that has the metal on it is a Fel-Pro item but I try to stay away from those as they can crush the oil pump tube when over tightened.  I prefer using the plain rubber seals and liberally lube them with white grease during the installation.  I typically don’t use a torque wrench on that oil pump flange nut and simply ‘snug’ it in place.
