Hi guys,
I'm trying to decide which cherry bomb muffler to purchase for my f100. I want 2.5 inch inlet to 2.25 inch outlet. The mufflers will be run straight from ram horn exhaust on a 292. I'm having a hard time finding a part number that would work. Will a cherry bomb 545-87087cb work? It appears to be angled slightly.
Also, if there are any other recommendation other than the cherry bombs, let me know. I want to keep an old school sound, hence the glasspacks.
Thanks.

Smittys. they are made in 22,26,30 inch and have straight inlet and outlet.I think they sound better behind a Y than Cherry Bombs. They have a deeper, more mellow tone.

Any exhaust shop can make a 2 1/2 to 2 1/4 short coupler pretty cheap. But ditto on the Smitty's. I had a set of Cherry Bombs years ago, and the Smitty's sound more old school.

Thanks, guys. So now I'm thinking the 22 inch 2 inch in/out smithy. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the shorter the muffler, the louder?
I have read that 2.5 inch inlet to 2.25 inch outlet is recommended. Would just the straight 2 inch in/out work well with having a coupler made?

The 2 inch in and out will work fine. The 22 inch muffler will be pretty loud.I have the 26 inch on my car and they are loud enough and sound great.

If you are shopping, consider Porters. I like the set on my Parklane.

I like Brockman Mellow Tone steel packs. They have a great old school bad boy sound on y-blocks and flatheads.

Any short 22" straight thru muffler is likely to be annoyingly loud. May be fun at first, but they are tiresome on the hwy & the Police & your neighbours will likely not be pleased..

I'm running Hooker aero chambers 3" in the X member of my tbird. I got them cheap so I made them fit. They had a pretty amazing note alone, yet I now have 18" hotdogs as well at the rear, just before the bumper. The hotdogs knocked off about 10db and sounds a bit fluffy now "a bit like a fart in a bath" ! Moroso make a hotdog style muffler which uses chambers to cancel noise, which might be an option. Oh and when they say there is no droning it is true. And most manufacturers fit mufflers to the rear these days.

I have 2..5" Aerochambers as well. To me they sound the same as the glass packs I had before them, but quieter - I can actually hear and have a conversation while cruising down the highway and the ears don't ring after only a short trip.
