I have put a front disk brake on my Tbird. I was going to have the original power booster rebuilt and plumb that into the new brakes. What I was wondering, since the car is going to be a gift to my daughter, I thought maybe a more modern power master cylinder that mounts to the firewall might be a better/safer play. I know that will require moving the battery to the trunk. Any thoughts or even recommendations on vendors who sell a good power master cylinder kit?
Thanks!

I put Grenada front discs on my '55 bird, and the stock midland C3400 booster really isn't enough. Gil Bumgardner recommends a larger booster, just for the front disc brakes, along with a combo proportioning valve. I think the midland C490 is what he is using on his 57 bird. I got the larger booster but haven't installed it yet. See my blog here http://restorationandredemption.blogspot.com

I finally installed a C490 booster on my bird with Granada front disk brakes. I highly recommend this for anyone using Granada spindles. The brake pedal pressure is now roughly equivalent to most modern cars. You can read about my install with pics here.

Where did you purchase a C490 booster?

Where did you purchase a C490 booster? eBay. Autozone and Napa list them in their online catalog, but they are always out of stock. Two remanufactured Cardone units (51-9241) came up on eBay last summer, and I grabbed one.

Looks like Summit has them for $200 plus a refundable care charge of $80.
