Getting ready to try some ECZ-G chamber-match grinding/smoothing. It occurred to me the best way to protect the finished seats and allow safe blending of outer ledges would be to grind down some old valves to exact size/inner seat diameter. Need a couple each of old/trash exhaust and large intakes to play with.

Daniel:

Small block scrub valves would do the same thing, and your local machine shops should have some laying around.  I once used a 1.78 intake valve from a '55-'56 Y in the G intake hole to do what you are planning.  If you cannot find anything, let me know.  I could probably find something, would ask you to pay for the shipping.

John,

Since I wanted to get the head as deep as possible into the seat, I just thought starting with the full size valve would be best? Whatever. Rather pay for shipping than dig around at a local shop for the right head/stem size. Just e-mail me your address and best guess for postage/etc., and I'll send you a check. (dantinh62@kconline.com)
