Hello, I'm in the region of Montreal in Quebec, I have a 1957 Ford F100 with a 6 cylinder 223 engine with only 7000 miles .... orifinale, it works very, very well, but I would find me a 272 8 cylinder exchange or direct purchase.
This truck has won several awards for its originality ..... but I want to move forward with my project.
I'll try to put pictures of the engine, if you ever hear mentioned anything to me know

thank you

If my reading is correct and this truck has only 7000 miles of service it would be a good idea, in my opinion, to leave it alone. Ford made tons of the F series trucks and you can buy one on the cheap either with a 292/272, the one you have with the extremely low miles is amazing and will lose it's value if you go forward with the engine change, or any alteration. If you have considered this and don't care engines are readily available on ebay.

I know very well that this project is crazy, my friends tell me so often .... but long hiking with my wife are painfully, it lacks acceleration and I dream of having a HotRod !!
I will keep the old motor in case someone wants to buy an original truck, but for now I would like to restore an old Yblock

I am about 5 hrs from Montreal and should have everything you need but like others I would debate modifying a truck that original. I recently put a 272 in place of a 223 six in a 58 F100 and although the 223 wouldnt bake the tires like the 272 it was still a pretty stout engine and had tons of low end torque. Give me a call and we can talk. 207-333-8369 Bill.

Hello Billy
a crazy dream but I wish I could have a little noise under the hood, I love the sound of a yblock and power, but is that the 272 is an exact replacement at 223 without changing the bellhousing

Because the 272 was the optional engine in the trucks in 1957, the cast was made a ECG6015D Dearborn Michigan, I made a mistake !!

The bellhousing is different.  The front motor mount on the frame is probably different, too.  You'll probably have to make a front mount or find one from a Y-block truck and install it.

Hi I have a 272 for sale still installed in my 57 Custom 300.  It was the original engine and I had it completely overhauled about 20 years ago and have driven it maybe 5000 miles since.  It come complete with both 2 bbl and 4 bbl carbs and intakes, aircleaner, generator, alternator (converted), 3 spd manual transmission and likely some other stuff with it.  I am converting the car to a 302 with an AOD and hate to just sell the motor for scrap so it will go to someone who needs/wants it.  I can put the stuff on pallets and ship at you expense.  Engine is still in car and running so could do a video if required.  Will be pulled in the next couple of weeks.  Send me a message if you are interested in it.  I live in Thunder Bay Ontario.
