is there a fix for head around

spark plug holes?

has anybody milled a bigger flat

around spark plug holes?

2 spark plugs still in head

have to scrape off more grunge around

For some reason on mine I could not get the the damper on after fitting front mount, had to pull it all apart and do some sort of juggling at the same time. Getting it off may have been the same. Just be more prepared when going to put it back on ..was a PITA !

As I remember you can not get the front motor mount off a '54 - 56 engine without pulling the harmonic damper. And you don't need to put it back on unless you want to. FoMoCo eliminated the front mount (it is actually called a steady rest) in '57. When I was a lad I put a '57 312 in my '54 and since my buddies and I hadn't any puller we couldn't get the front pully off the '54 engine so we installed the 312 without it. In 50,000 miles there was never any problem.

Damper off 1st then remove steady rest, you will see why. Use 21mm long socket, like a plug socket, it has thin walls and will get into head plug recess to enable better contact with plug. billSmile
