Hi guys; I'm looking for a replacement cam for a B7A-12175-A distributor shaft. For a 57 to 59 y-block V8 distributor with centrifugal and vacuum advance. Thank you very much in advance Smile

Is your cam surface worn? I may be in the market for the same item. However, the only supplier that lists them as far as I know, as of their 2007 catalogue, ( I just found out) is Dennis Carpenter Reproductions in N.C.

PF; Yes my cam is worn. I emailed Carpenter and ask " Does the cam part that acually opens the points included with the shaft"? Their reply was "no". I really did not think so because it was only $20. Their description is mis-leading. So back to square one.  Someone has those on hand, it's just a matter if finding them.

Do you suppose the cam of a later Motorcraft dizzy could be grafted to the earlier advance mechanism/stem? Some of the photos almost look like the cam could be pressed off.

I get the Autolite style machined down to accept the Motorcraft "reluctor" to put the Duraspark units in there - why not a later cam?

I was leafing through a '69 Hot Rod magazine and saw an article about recurving a Mopar distributor.  There was a picture, and the cam assembly looks identical to the '57-'59 Y.  No guarantee it is a direct replacement, but maybe worth a look-see.  It was a mid or late '60s 383.  I think Mopars used both Autolite and Prestolite ignitions, Autolite may have had a hand in the early Y ones.
