I need an overdrive solenoid for a T-89 transmission. I don't know if all Ford OD's have the same solenoid or not but I have a T-89 and I'm sure a T-85 would be the same thing. I'm located in N. FL. May need an input shaft too. 23 Spline is what I have, wouldn't care if it were something different as long as I can get a 10" clutch disk for it.

I bought the T-89 thinking it was a T-85. Long story.

Cocours has, or can get the solenoid.

Who? The problem with finding a new one is that they are more expensive than I gave for the transmission.

CONCOURS Parts in Nevada.

I looked. It said "call for a price". I know it's more than I want to pay for one. They have carpet for my '56 for like $250. Pee on that! I'll find one but thanks for the info anyway. Its apparent that nobody on here has one and that's sort of what I was lookin' for.

Maybe this will help.  As far as I know, there were two different solenoids used on the Warner overdrives-6 volt and 12 volt.  A long time ago I had one on my Ford trans with a chevy part number stamped in it, so brand didn't matter.

Thanks John, yep that's what I needed. There was one on ebay the other day and I wish I'd have got it. New those damned things are like $250. Phooey on that, I'll wait. I'm sure I'll have to change my front yolk too. The transmission is 31 spline there and 23 in the front. I'll have to get a 10" 23 spline disk too. First is to get the solenoid and make sure all of that is working. Thanks again.

Forgot to mention in previous post, Studebaker probably sold more Warner overdrives than anyone else.

I just bought a t-85? from a guy that said it was removed from a studebaker truck.I thought I might be able to use it on my y-block.

Earlier tonight I was doing a search on the trans and saw a thread where a guy was looking for solenoid.

One of the replies said,The seal usually leaks and you can take the solenoid off ,clean it out with brake and clean ,and replace the oring,it will usually work.

I have not tried it,but it might be worth a shot. And Merry Christmas to everyone.

John, is the bolt pattern the same as a Ford?
By Hoosier Hurricane - 17 Years Ago
No, they won't bolt into anything else.  Bolt pattern is different, many have a fixed yoke on the back which requires a slip joint in the driveline.  The OD parts are interchangeable throughout the BW line.  I once got a pawl that was NLA available from Ford, the local AM dealer had it in stock.  'Course the AM dealers are gone now.
