I either need a 9 tooth pinion gear or a complete set of 4:10 gears for my 56 Fairlane rear end.

If you replace only the pinion gear, there's a good chance that it will be noisy. You should look for a good, matched set of ring & pinion gears.

I know. I thought I had a set but the pinion turned out to be for a 9N tractor. Didn't quite fit. I want to set up a 4:10 chuck for racing so a little noise would be ok. Just thought I'd see what people have in their collection of spares.

I have a complete 4:10 "pumpkin" out of a '54  Tudor Sedan but I think that it is the same as '56.  You can have it for $50.00 + shipping.  I am in SoCal.

Would a 3.89 work for you?  I THINK I still have one out of my old '55 Club Sedan...it's on the other side of NH, though and I'm down in CT.  IF I still have it, I remember having had an issue with the pinion seal and it not ever sealing again.  I ended up getting a highway geared pumpkin, instead.  It's taking up space, again...IF I still have it.

Thanks but I have a 3:73 now and that wouldn't be much different. Appreciate the offer though.

If the 56 Fairlane rearend is original, it has a banjo-type (pumpkin) differential. The Dana 44 differential is integral; they don't interchange.
