Haven't done this in a while, but what is the best method of holding the thermostat in place while bolting down the housing? I have a couple of ideas, but would like to know how you guys do it without having the thermostat slipping out of position. Thanks!

I put studs in the intake manifold. No problem in lining up the housing to the intake.

Use Permatex Aviation sealer on the gaskets. You can hold the thermostat in place in the housing with a rubber band. Run it through the thermostat and put the ends over a pencil, rest the pencil across the radiator hose opening in the housing. Then insert the thermostat into the manifold leaving just enough room to slip the rubber band out.

I have had mine off a dozen times and always had the bypass hose and the 2 bolt fitting attached to the housing and Permatex #2 both sides on its gasket. I cut the hose about 3/8” short to slide it all together. I use a 360” Mopar high flow thermostat also. Good luck.

3M weatherstrip cement on the thermostat edge. Glue it to the housing.
