Rebuilding my 317 engine. Machine guy says it'll need .030 os pistons or boring to 341 pistons. I just want to make sure 341 pistons will work on this engine. Or maybe even 368. Pistons seem to be hard to find, especially at a decent price. Any help or advice is appreciated

I've been away from my Lincoln all summer. Been rethinking things. Would like to know what I need for dual exhaust. My 54 has power steering and brakes and clearance doesn't allow for duals. I've read on here, can't seem to find it now, that there are ram horn manifolds for this purpose.
Has anyone thought of putting a pipe in the original driver side manifold and curving it down the front of the motor and then back? Just wondering. I have no knowledge of exhaust systems but it seems possible. Here's my rebuilt 317

It was pretty common on Ford y block trucks to to do just what you’re thinking. If Lincoln’s are like Fords, the truck rams horns won’t clear the side motor mounts. Ford trucks used a front mount and ears on the bellhousing. Cars used side motor mounts. Moving the drivers side down is only a flange and a header pipe and a cap for the passenger side. Cheaper than rams horns and two header pipes. Probably cleans up the appearance more than improves performance, but that’s good too.

Given the temperature down there, I understand why not a lot got done. When it got down to 89* it felt so good I thru I threw in the towel and came back to 60 and raining when it went back up to 100.

Engine looks great. Nice detailing. Really pretty.

Brad, your description of a possible driver  side pipe  option is exactly how the aftermarket did  it for Fords  with Y blocks and crossover pipe.   I don't know  offhand if Liincoln manifolds can be switched side for side like  Y kBlocks, but on my '53 truck with a Y block I used a right side manifold on the left side, so  the manifold furnished the "down" bend at the front for the left side pipe, making it even easier to fabricate an exhaust pipe.  I used a later right side manifold on the right side so I didn't have to block a front flange, cleaning up the look a little.

Brad, there is an add on Craigslist Medford Oregon for a set of ramhorns that will fit the big Y-block Ford engines. The ad says not the 239-312 Y-block. Price seems very reasonable. I know nothing about the fitment off these manifolds, don't know if your interested. By the way, fine work on that big Lincoln engine, looks great.    1/8 Cav Man

I'm also working on a '54 Lincoln w/317ci and have similar dual exhaust aspirations. The driver's side is the challenge.

Hopefully these recent pics I took a '55 Lincoln's driver side factory install help you. The quality of the first pic is poor and rotated 90 degrees CCW (engine is at the bottom of the pic), but zooming in you'll see an exhaust flange protruding from the inner fender. The exhaust header's discharge port faces towards this inner fender flange. A small 4"-5" pipe must interconnect the header to that inner fender flange but unfortunately it was missing from the car. The small pipe is routed well above the steering box and transmission linkages but rests below the Treadle-Vac (which was missing and stuffed with a plastic bag).
