T56’s came in a lot of different ratios and input/output splines. So I’d guess there were different input shaft lengths. So the question would be what T56 behind a y block, and who makes the right adaptor, combination, etc.

How about zf gs6-53dz?
I dont know in your side off lake but here in northern Europe, that is one of most popular performance transmission.
Six speed, take abuse over 1000hp and costs hundreds.

Bellhousing needs adapter or welding and gear ratios are better with long rear ends.

With Y-Block, problem is lack of aluminum bellhousings for weld installations.

Yeah...not plentiful at the local 'Pull-A-Part'. I see that Scrubettes also used a ZF 6 speed...high$.
