Does anybody out there have time and patience to help with this issuse? Driver side air vent is stuck. Will not move at all. As I have issuses with knees I am looking for any info or pictures that could aid me to get to the right area and what to look for as to make time spend down looking for the solution. Old age sucks!

It's possibly the cable needs lubed. If you can get the underhood end of the cable unhooked try holding it vertical and spray some lubricant onto/into the cable. Also pull the cable out and spray the exposed part of the shaft. While its off work it in and out to try to carry some oil into the cable. Plus once the cable is off try to move the duct lever. If its frozen try soaking in lubricant. Next step would be to remove the tube and check the flap.

Both the cables on my car were stuck solid. I took them loose at the end under the hood. It is a little tight but you can do it. I used a coil wire boot as a funnel by slipping the small end over the end of the control cable and securing it with a wire tie. Mix a 50/50 solution of automatic transmission oil and acetone or lacquer thinner. Prop the cable in a vertical position and fill the boot with the mixture. Occasionally check the level of the mixture and refill as necessary. Place rags in the car to avoid dripping on your carpet. The oil mixture will travel down the cable and eventually run out at the knob on the dash. Push/pull the knob in the car occasionally to see when it releases.

Found this on EBAY. I used to have one back in my motorcycle days and they actually worked pretty well.
