A poster over on the Ford Barn said you have part numbers for a Hayden clutch drive on a Y-block. Hayden catalogue is no help. I have a '55 w/272" and AC. I'm running a stock 3-blade fan now. New 3-row core in radiator. I need more air flow at idle/slow speeds. It hasn't boiled, YET, but gets close to the hot mark idling w/air on. I'm running a '59 distributor w/15 degree initial advance. Any advice appreciated.

I found one of Steve's post with the part number. Note it's for his 56 bird, and only a starting point for anything else. Hopefully he'll chime in with more info.

Thanks miker. With the part number I found that it is 3.650" long. That is just about exactly the distance from my pump to the radiator.

Is this for a T-bird or a sedan? The birds have their engine set way back - even an extra spacer behind the water pump. The Hayden unit I use is listed for a Bronco with 351 - and numerous other applications - but they all have some space in there behind the radiator. This set-up that is on the engine now also has a 7 blade GTO aluminum fan (cut down), factory shroud and a small pulley.
Running a sedan - your best option is to get a reduced diameter pulley for the fan / waterpump. Be sure you have the large opening thermostat so water flow is freed up a bit.

Thanks Greenbird. I have the NAPA #6 thermostat now. Is there a source for a smaller water pump pulley? i have looked at Mummert's site and googled for one without any luck. I find lots of small block Ford pulleys but none listed for the Y-block.

"Concours" used to offer one if I'm not mistaken. Price seemed a bit high.
I got mine from CVF (aluminum for a 289) and had it modified slightly.

Thanks Greenbird, I didn't know a pulley from a small block Ford would work. I'm going to monitor my car as the summer goes on. Just maybe it will be OK
