I have the right side suspension dismantled. My question is; on the upper BJ the stud will turn but the ball does not? I suspect that this is not good? Lower ball joint is tight and the ball turns with the stud.

It sounds like it is broken.  The ball and stud should turn as one but I don't see how the stud would still be attached if it has separated from the ball although it has been awhile since looking at  your type of ball joint.

I have the left top BJ out and it is the same as the right side. Stud turns but the ball does not. Makes me wonder if the BJ is really bad? The bottom left BJ is the same as right side.

For some reason I'm finding this discussion confusing. Isn't the stud and ball one assembly?

Thanks Carl. I will inspect these BJ closely for tightness.  I may holler at you on your NOS BJoints.

The ball and the stud are two pieces, they are pressed together when they are manufactured. The stud has a slot on the upper end to hold a screwdriver which keeps the stud from turning when the retaining nut is tightened up  Carl
