Did the 1957 "C" Birds (292) come from the factory with a four barrel carb?

'57 'C' 'Birds were equipped with a two barrel carburetor and a 3 speed only manual transmission.
Hope this helps.

Yup. Here's an example of a C-bird restoration blog.

In the 1980s I had a low mileage "C" bird with overdrive. I've never seen one but several years ago a "C" was advertised locally with automatic.

Not sure about transmission options but definitely 2 barrel carb. I would think that any transmission would have been available though.

For 1957 as far as I'm aware, all vin "C" letter 292 cu. inch Ford cars, came with the then new design 2 Bbl carbs. Only 312s got a 4 bbl.

Thanks guys. I wasn't sure if the intake on my engine had been changed in the past or not...it was. That Bird in the blog is nice except for the 312 valve cover decals (!?) and the early exh. manifolds.

'57 'C' code Birds from the factory were equipped with only the 292 engine and that only came with a two barrel carburetor and a medium duty 3 speed only manual transmission. In '57, the 'C' code '57 'Bird was the least expensive base model 'Bird you could buy.
In '57, to get the FordoMatic or the heavy duty T-85 with overdrive in a 'Bird you had to step-up to a 'D', 'E', or 'F' code which came with the 312 engine.
Like some of you, I've seen numerous '57 'C' 'Birds outfitted with 292 engines and four barrel carburetors, 'C' 'Birds with 312 engines, and 'C' 'Birds with FordoMatic transmissions. None of these were originally offered or released from FoMoCo equipped this way. Not all 'Bird enthusiasts are purists!
Sounds healthy to me!
