As you have obviously noticed, the forum looks a bit different. There were complaints about colors that made it difficult to see some text, issues uploading and not being able to find the login button. Ryan Healey (owner of the company that developed the forum software) has taken us under his wing and he has worked the issues. As you can see, we now have links back to the main site, although I think that the forums are the real heart of the site. Look just below the text area to see the buttons for formatting, inserting pictures, etc.
Please put it through it's paces and report back (I KNOW THAT YOU WILL!). I am trying to keep this site working for all.

Here we go again! What can I do to view the topics under the various headings. I don't get the finger pointer, only an arrow, and when I click on the topic, nothing happens. There must be a way to access the topics, I'm just too dumb to figure it out.

John, you lost me on the finger pointer thing. When I click on topics, I see them. Can you elaborate?

My thanks for the upgrade it is much easier on the AARP eyes, I was afraid to refresh because I thought it would revert. I don't have issues with selecting topics the hand works on my old IE laptop unit, haven't tried the Ipad.

Thanks for the post Jim. I was looking all afternoon for the button I thought I pushed by accident. :-) Looking good and easier on the eyes. Thanks, again, for all you do to keep this site rocking! Chuck

Thanks guys. I understand the AARP eyes! The issues that have been addressed are Colors - to make things easier to see. Pictures - now able to upload again. Login - this was partially caused by colors, the login area had text the same as the background.
I'm sure that Ryan made additional tweaks to make the forum software better. He has been most helpful.

O.K the former setup did have some minor glitches, but I could get the forum & so on to work.. Now I can't even get the catagories to open!. It just sits there & cycles. Can somebody explain this to a computer dummy with an old program. Mark mentions clearing history, but I'm not sure how to do that without possibly creating a disaster.. thanks

Jim:
When I move my mouse the cursor on the screen moves, and when I stop on something that I can read, a finger replaces the arrow, and when I click on that item, such as "Technical", it brings up the list of topics. I used to pick the topic I wanted to view, the finger replaced the arrow, I click and the topic is accessible. Now when I pick the topic, no finger, click on it and nothing happens. At that point the only thing that works on that screen is my "back" arrow at the top. I am only able to reach this particular topic is by clicking on the message on the upper right of the screen. I found that by accident yesterday. I'm dumfounded.

I know what you are talking about, John. The pointer turns in to a pointing hand when it is over a link or button. I don't know how to fix it, though.
That is a general theme in web browsers. Does it work on other websites? If so, then clearing the cache, as was done last time might be worth a try but make sure your frequented websites user id's and passwords are written down before doing so because those will probabloy be cleared out.

Hi Paul. I'm not sure how you were able to post a comment if you computer continues to cycle. That is what mine did until I cleared the History. This is a normal procedure and should not create a disaster and you should really do this regularly. It clears out a lot of garbage that can slow your computer down. You will have to log in to sites that you have previously logged in to automatically. That's why I keep a paper list of all my passwords. The browser you use to to access the Yblocks Forever Forum (I use Firefox) should have an item in the main menu at the very top of the page that says History. Click on it and select Clear all History. This should clear enough of the links associated with yesterdays version of the forum and open up a path to access today's forum. If you don't clear the history you computer is trying to link to yesterdays version which isn't there anymore. Don't fear change, embrace it. The new version is much better. Good luck.

Jim. Love the new look. And picture posting on my end looks to be fixed. I too had a problem initially in getting into the individual forums but deleting out the old history and cookies took care of that. I did have to go back into the ‘Browsing History’ popup window and uncheck the ‘save the passwords’ box as that particular one was keeping me from viewing the threads within the various forums. The forum now appears to be working well for me.

I was able to get to this discussion only by using the RSS feed and clicking on the "What's New" button @ the upper left of the screen. When I go to the other forums (Technical, Street) they won't open, all I get is an endlessly circling gizmo. Also don't see any option to log out/in.

OK THANKS TO lyonroad I GOT IT FIXED
THANKSI normally use firefox. I can't access the detail on the forums with this latest change. I usually log in at the point that the various main headings come up ( Tech, Street, Racing etc). When I click on either of those the individual items do not come up, all I get is a arrow that goes around and around.
I can access events, links etc okay
I know this happened when the new system went in and somebody told me how to fix it. Howevr, I don't rmember how, so can some one help me. Detail instructions please
I'm doing this now on AOL, which I only use when Firefox is not working.
Thanks

Go to the "Explore" tab at the top, then scroll all the way down in that. You will find the search choice. When I click on "Explore" I get a drop down menu with "Home, Latest, Popular, Members, Moderators, Who's on, Tags" but no "Search". Am I looking in the right place?
|
By charliemccraney - 10 Years Ago

You are in the right place. You just need to scroll down. The scroll bar is hard to see but it's on the right. Click on it and drag it down.

This entry is from the thread 'Spinning Wheel', but may help those who have been STRUGGLING as I have been to get back on... ________________________________
You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files. - Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button <I used this one after clearing history &cookies did not work on firefox and then it worked ok...
- Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
- Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
You can open the Web Console (Firefox/Tools > Web Developer).Check on the Network tab if any content is blocked and has a file size 0 (zero). You can also check the web Console log for (JavaScript) errors. ************************************************* I have done EVERYTHING imaginable in the last several days ATTEMPTING to return to normalcy in using this site. Clearing history, clearing cookies, clearing saved passwords, running Norton 360, restarting my computer, reloading Firefox (I thought). Absolutely NOTHING would resolve my ability to log-on as a Forum participant!
Specifically, - I could not get past the 'spinning wheel' using Firefox. - I could read the Forum entries using Internet Explores, but could not log-in as a participant.
Your direction to toggle the 'Y-Blocks Forever' web site on my PC and then press "Ctrl + F5" (F5 is a key in the top on my keyboard) INSTANTLY resolved my Firefox webpage contents so that log-in was again visible AND access to viewing Forum topics and threads was doable using Firefox.
Thanks, again, tomfiii!

When I look at my f 350 post, instead of pictures I see just links. Then you have access to all my photobucket pictures. Is that a site problem or my computer?
|
By lyonroad - 10 Years Ago

Does for me too Dennis. But I see that the photo of the rear cab supports that I posted is still there though. Must be a Photo Bucket thing.

Dennis,
It looks like they got converted to links. If you go back and edit them, delete everything outside the (IMG] and (/IMG] tags, they should work. Or just go back and copy and paste the images from photobucket.

I looked at the Ford Truck Enthusiast web site and the pictures are there, so it must be something with this site. I tried reposting but it came up links again.
|
By charliemccraney - 10 Years Ago
|
Dennis, I just edited the links in your first post of the F350 thread and it seems to have worked. If you go back and click edit, you can see what I did. You will see (URL=http//:xyz.com) and (/URL) and within those you will see (IMG)http//:xyz.com(/IMG). You want to delete the URLs and leave the IMGs as well as the stuff between the IMGs.
Also, the () will be []. If I use [] here the forum thinks it is html rather than text and tries to make links or pictures so I used () for the example here.

To the right of your name, at the top right of the page, there is a gear looking icon. Click on that and the option to logout is at the bottom.
If you are not already logged in, the option to login will be in that same area.

Sorry, no such icon on the page I have, just a little gray box that says "your profile" when you scroll over it......and "click to view your profile", when I scroll over my name. Seems I'm automatically logged in when I get here. Thanks, Barry L

The gray box that says "your profile," that's what you need to click on. There's not a little gear in that box for you? The gear is in the gray box for me.
|
By Barry L - 10 Years Ago

Nope, no gear here. If I click on the gray box for "your profile", the next page has these options : summary, contact, personal, picture, signature and login. If I click the login, it will allow me to make changes to my user name or password, but doesn't let me login or out. I think I've been logged in for about 4 days now. Seems like I'm in and can't log out???? Barry L

When I go to mine it says "logout" When I click on that a small window opens up and asks me if I am sure I want to logout. I expect that if I agree I will be logged out. I never log out, does this create a problem?
