Y-Guys:     Reed & I cranked my new engine last nite, every thing went well,

no evil noises but, several of the rocker nuts are backing off. I bought

the.003 over ones from Mr. Schuman, but for some reason, they will

"start" into the rocker and then they try to pull the threads out. I've

gotten one to work(Vern told me to use them on the most "worn"

              rockers only)

Does anyone have a suggestion(S) or????? I've got a set with the Lock

nuts on them but, they're a pain to adjust!

                                                   Thx

Mike:

I have found the 1/2" are standard, 7/16" are oversize.

The Ford .0023" O/S adjusting screws should typically have multiple vertical scribe lines on the hex flats.  An old Ford line mechanic told me this, in addition to checking boxes of NOS Ford adjusting screws.  If I recall correctly the adjusting screws have a Major OD diameter size that tapers.

I'll also look at the different hex size theory, re std and O/S threads.  Never heard that before.

Regards,

Dennis
