Just saw a 4 bbl manifold on e-bay with the above number. Can someone tell me anything about this manifold? I'm familiar with the ECZ-9425 A and B but not the EBY D. Thanks in advance.

I believe John has nailed it in that EBY-D part number does sound like a teapot 4 barrel intake for a 256 Merc.  This would have the smaller ports and be a suitable intake for a 239 without worrying about the gasket mismatch that occurs when using the later model intakes.

Another intake not brought up very often is the ECB-B intake which is the teapot 4V intake for a ’55 Ford.  This particular intake also has the choke housing as part of the intake like the EBY-D intake but instead has larger ports.  The 1956 4V Teapot intake (ECZ-A) does away with the choke housing flange on the manifold and the choke coil is instead located at the carburetor instead of on the intake.

Hello,

I am a newbie to the fifties fords so if i seem confused please be patient as I get up to speed. I just aquired a 60 f250 4x4 w/ the 292/4 speed trans. It currently has the 2 barrel carb, would like to change to the 4 barrel. Will the intake thats mentioned above work for this application?

you could make it work but you'd be better off looking for an ECZ-9425 B manifold.. They take the later style Holly Carbs whereas the manifold mentioned above take the old school teapot style 4 barrel carb..

Dozer:

That EBY manifold above will have much smaller ports than even your 2 barrel manifold.  Stay away from that one.

The intake gasket fit for the EBY-D teapot intake is marginal at best when used on the ’57 and up cylinder heads.  To use a late model carburetor, you’d also have to use an adapter.  As John mentions, “stay clear of it”.
