Anyone ever have to buy just the oil pan tube crush grommet that goes into the oil pump? Was wondering if I could get this up at the local NAPA, or would I have to order this? Just need the grommet...

Are you talking about the seal that goes on the tube and into the pump. You can get those separate. I see them in the TBird catalogs, I assume Mac's must have them. The new ones are different than the old ones.

that's the one...I have seen them in the catalogs too, just didn't want to pay so much on shipping to get something so small...hopefully I can get this locally.

Daniel: Did you by chance ruin one? Apparently there's a right way & wrong way to install them. As I recall the old stock rebuilt pump I installed, came with a tag on it about the installation. Some grommets are plain rubber like, but others have a metal insert in them.

Paul, no, not this time...I have made plenty of mistakes before in the past. I freshened up a motor, had a good gasket laying around, but not crush grommet to go with it...go figure.

I've wondered about this too. I've bought at least 5 gasket sets in the past few years and not one had the oil tube grommet in them. Is there a part number at NAPA or for local parts stores?  Chuck in NH

I ruined the 1st one I used- IIRC, I had to buy an "oil pan set" in order to obtain a replacement from NAPA. /Duck
