I got the wild hair a while back to get all my stock gauges/indicators in my '55 Ford Ranchwagon dash working. Got the fuel, temp and even the electric clock all working on 12v (but I still have my trusty wind up, just in case).

I finally got the old bod under the dash to look at the OIL light (getting out again was a whole different story) hoping to find just a burned out bulb only to find that the light socket only has a single wire. It needs the double wire socket like the GEN Light.

I looked in all the catalogs and can't find one. Anyone know where I can get one of these bad dogs? Or have a spare your willing to sell?

Thanks

Dang site won't let me edit, got the dreaded 'Yellow Error Page'.

Probably almost any 50's Ford would work that uses the same socket, not just '55.

Have you checked to make sure that over the years a dash light socket and the oil light socket didn't get swapped? Ben

Hi, I'll check but I was under the impression they were both the same, for a single contact bulb with two leads. As you know most sockets for single contact bulbs have one lead and the case is grounded. The one I'm after has two leads and is not ground. Voltage is routed to one lead the other lead goes to the oil pressure switch.

Thanks for asking.

Oh, Ben. Reread your response. I thought you were talking about the GEN and OIL sockets. You said "dash Light socket". Yes I will definitely check that. It is entirely possible they got switched. Thanks for the suggestion.

Sure wish we could still edit our posts on here...

Ben, you nailed it! Took another look under the dash and there is the socket I needed just hanging there with no bulb in it.

Thanks Carl and ben for your help. Guess I won't be needing your socket Carl, hope you didn't go to too much trouble looking.

Glad I could help. No fun for us old guys to wedge up under the dash and try to get the bifocals tipped up to look. My Crown wasn't too bad since I pulled the dash out during my restoration. Ben
