I hope the guy is making good on it. Do you have the car insured for "actual or stated value"? I hate it when you get the "its just an old car" story. Good luck and rant on he deserves it. Chuck

I'd RANT TOO!! Make'um PAY, these are not just old cars anymore, there Classics and tell them the value could be $15,000 to $20,000 dollars and they'll be more than glad to fix it with the shop of your choice.

My condolences. You can't always tell in the pictures but for all of you that haven't seen it is a very neatly done car, which I think hurts even more. Hope you can repair or replace the strip OK. It would be worth much more than 20K over here for a car that good.

Im insured with a good company . They have a lifetime guarantee if the work is no good it gets fixed again, My choice of repairer. But who do you trust not to fill it with bog [bondo] ?
The frustrating thing is its all up to me and my time to run around.. Damn Taxi driver had very little damage , he wont even get it fixed.. Prick!
Carl I think the stainless is ok.. I may even have a spare I would have to check thanks for the offer.. the fuel gauge is still going ok.

I can only imagine the frustration of being in the car, seeing someone backing-up toward you, blowing your horn, and then watching helplessly as you are hit... Yeah, you've got reason to be upset!
Some repairs are easier than others. This one will be more difficult because of its location. The wheel well makes access from the back side limited in part and impossible in the other part. The use of welded 'studs' for pulling on the outside surface of the panel is what I'd suspect will be employed today. Much like hammer and dolly work, where the studs are attached is a part of the art in being successful.
Sorry this happened to you. Update us on the repair and how it is accomplished.
Best Wishes,

Sad to hear about your misfortune. At least you're unhurt. In a situation like this it would have hard for me not to have kicked the living crap out of this guy. I hope you can get the advice of a good shop in W.A. to get your car back to pre-loss condition.

Lucky my daughter wasn't getting into the car at the time, wouldn't like to think of that, she was a minute late... Then I would have killed him..

I don't know where you live, so can't recomend a bodyshop. I would sugest you look for a restoration shop to do your repairs.

I sure don't blame you for being upset.I bought my wife a new mustang,it's been hit in parking lots 3 times not to mention the dings from inconsiderate $^^h%&@!s that open their doors and hit the sides. it can get so discouraging.at least it wasn't a hit and run.makes you wonder where are you supposed to park so this doesn't happen.

Makes you wonder about having anything good in this world.. I convince myself to drive my cars, leave them at shows etc [def not the local shopping centre] try not to panic about it too much, dont over capitalise with $10,000 paint jobs etc. Its still damn frustrating when it happens. Knowing that my car was rust free and undamaged and now.. Aghh! I saw one of our club members nearly in a fist fight with a guy whos wife was leaning on his car to take a picture! Im trying not to be like that ..but??
